You may be wondering why there’s been such a big gap since our last update, we’d love to tell you that it’s because of all the exciting new projects we’ve been working on but the honest truth is that Jessie is still struggling a great deal with her RSI and every time she draws a comic, the injuries are aggravated. Jessie and Wes are trying to develop a healthier lifestyle but frankly, the comics are probably always going to have to be few and far between.

But before you rush off to drown your sorrows in a big ol’ cup o’ turpentine, we have some exciting news! We are currently in the process of putting together a show for the 2012 Melbourne Fringe Festival! Of course, that will keep us pretty busy for the greater part of twenty twelve but we do have some videos and comics planned to ration out to you from time to time. So yeah, we’re pretty excited! We go through at least five packs of ‘Depends’ a week!

Anyway, thank you to everyone for your wonderful support this year, you don’t know how much your words of encouragement are truly appreciated but let’s just say that you all get free unlimited BJs for the rest of eternity.

I’m living in a culture which promotes self acceptance, “you’re beautiful just the way you are” pop stars croon while they sparkle with the sort of magic only obtainable through the joint effort of personal trainers, stylists, makeup artists and so much money.

I exist in a world of mixed messages. The sometimes overt and often incredibly subtle and insidious lesson coming from every billboard, every magazine, every shop, every cinema, every news reporter… is that beauty, a very specific sort of beauty, is the most important aspect of a woman.

“Why are women so stupid that they fall for these messages?” people ask disdainfully.

We’re not stupid. We’re more intelligent than we’re ever given credit for. But nobody exists in a vacuum and it’s really bloody hard to overcome and ignore the constant messages one is endlessly bombarded with. Sometimes it feels impossible.

Imagine this; you believe something intellectually and hold that belief dear, yet you are surrounded by thousands of voices yelling “WRONG! WRONG! YOU’RE WRONG!” unremittingly.

Self esteem doesn’t just happen… I have to fight for it every single day of my life.

Ahem. Anyway, sorry to get all serious and shit on yo’ asses. This is going to be something you’ll have to put up with from time to time but I promise there will be plenty of butt and puke jokes in between.

Hello to what I assume, despite what Google Analytics tells me, are thousands of adoring fans.

Wes and I are back from our holiday and pleased to see that Lucas has mostly behaved himself, apart from a couple of “surprises” he left on our rug (yes, by “surprises” I obviously mean human corpses coated in glitter.)

We had a wonderful holiday in tropical North Queensland. A highlight of the trip was snorkelling at my favourite place on the planet, the Great Barrier Reef. That place is freakin’ magical, I tell ya what. While we were there, a marine biologist told us all about the devastating effects of climate change on the reef. Yes, we do intend to make comics about it, several in fact, so stay tuned you little shits.

Hey, Lucas here.

Remember back when you were younger, when your parents left you alone at home for the very first time, and told you to behave? Remember how you felt that sense of pride and responsibility? And then the moment they were out of the driveway you’d go mental and run amok?

I’m getting that urge right now.

Things can get pretty busy around here, Wes works full time and Jessie has trouble writing comics that aren’t the same poop joke reiterated constantly. Thus, regular updates can sometimes be tricky.

So we decided to take on an occasional writer for Sigh Five, enter Lucas Heil. We have some comics written by Lucas coming up, but for the time being please sit back and enjoy his chart exploding, pop sensation “New Kinda Dance”.
